In the TRADITIONAL TO FUTURE PROJECT*, which will be carried out within the scope of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Copyrights General Directorate of Copyrights Future Young People’s Cultural Industries Support Program, traditional artists and craftsmen as well as academicians conducting research in these fields will come together with young people interested in traditional arts, the importance of cultural heritage will be emphasized and the experiences of master trainers will be transferred to future generations, thus enabling young people to specialize in their fields and produce in new fields.

The difficulties faced by young people in art production, current comments on materials and production knowledge, all details about the sale of artworks, all the information necessary for the exhibition and collection of artworks will be examined in detail in Tradition to Future trainings and talks.

Anyone interested in traditional arts and crafts can participate in the project. In order to receive a certificate at the end of the project, at least two activities from each field must be preferred and continuity must be shown. Certificates will be given to people between the ages of 15-30. All trainings, interviews, workshop meetings and film screenings in the project are free of charge.

TRAINING

Eight-hour theoretical and practical trainings will be organized by experts in the field with important information on art production. All of the trainings will be held online (zoom) at the headquarters of the Traditional Arts Association in Taksim.

DOCUMENTARY AND FILM SCREENINGS

The first and unique cinema event that will bring traditional arts and cinema together; Films and documentaries in the field of traditional arts and crafts will be screened at Tradition to Future Film Days.

Within the scope of the project in question, a festival-like cinema event called Tradition to Future Film Days, where films with Intangible Cultural Heritage areas, traditional arts and crafts, art and civilization history are gathered under one roof, will be realized. With Tradition to the Future Film Days, which aims to create a film inventory that has no precedent before, it is aimed that the fields of cinema and traditional arts will interact more in the long term and create a platform where they feed each other.

In Tradition to the Future Film Days, fiction, documentary, animation and short films from many different regions of the world, which are about or inspired by traditional arts and crafts that are evidence of cultural richness, will be brought together with their enthusiasts accompanied by interviews. In addition to films about ancient Turkish arts such as miniature, marbling and calligraphy, films about the traditional arts of countries will also have the chance to be screened.

All film screenings to be held between November 12-17, 2022 at Yeşilçam Cinema at Atatürk Cultural Center in Istanbul will be free of charge.
