Prof. Dr. Zeren Tanındı Armağanı. Zeren Tanındı Armağanı, which consists of more than fifty articles and memoirs written by colleagues who crossed paths with Prof. Dr. Zeren Tanındı and are experts in their fields: The Art and Culture of the Book in the Islamic World was presented with the participation of many guests. Prof. Dr. Serpil Bağcı was the advisor of the book, which is a tribute. The book, which is the fourth in the series of Gift Books supported by GSD, was realized with the initiative and editorship of Prof. Dr. Tanındı and her former students and current colleagues Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aslıhan Erkmen and Dr. Şebnem Tamcan Parladır, and the design of Gönül Kaya.
In addition to the classical topics in the field of manuscripts, Zeren Tananıdı Armağanı covers different fields such as codicology, conservation, reading and collecting culture: Book Arts and Culture in the Islamic World includes articles written especially for Zeren Tanındı, as well as original essays covering previously unexamined topics and works.
Art Historian Prof. Dr. Zeren Tananıdı was the recipient of the Silver Tulip Award, which is presented to personalities who have dedicated their lives to traditional arts and contributed to the survival, development and promotion of these arts.
The Silver Tulip, the first award given in the field of traditional arts, has been given by GSD since 2006 to the doyens of the field who have dedicated their lives to traditional arts. Previously presented to Hikmet Barutçugil, Hasan Çelebi, Cahide Keskiner, Nurhan Atasoy, İslam Seçen, Ülker Erke and Filiz Çağman, the eighth Silver Tulip Award was presented to Prof. Dr. Zeren Tanındı this year.
Zeren Tananıdı Award: Book Arts and Culture in the Islamic World and the 8th Silver Tulip Award Ceremony was held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 14.30 at the Sepetçiler Pavilion.
Who is Prof. Dr. Zeren Tananıdı? Prof. Dr. Tanındı, who received his bachelor’s and doctorate degrees from the Department of Art History at Istanbul University, worked at the Topkapı Palace Museum Library until 1984; After continuing his studies at Bursa Directorate of Culture, he moved to Uludağ University and established the Department of Art History here in 1994. Prof. Dr. Zeren Tananıdı has written numerous books, book chapters, articles and papers in all fields of Islamic book arts; she has taken part in various exhibitions and projects; and after her retirement, she continued her work as a consultant at Sakıp Sabancı Museum and Sadberk Hanım Museum.
